Tales of Possum Run
Book cost is $20.00.
Excerpt form the Bellefontaine Examiner:
"It's a collection of nonsense," Charles W. Rath said of a recent book he published under the name Tales of Possum Run: A Collection of Shorts. "It's all hooey, homespun malarkey."
The Columbus man, who spent his formative years in Bellefontaine and still has several friends here, is donating 250 copies of the book to be sold for $20 each to benefit the Holland Theatre restoration effort.
The kicker is he's not asking for a penny for the copies and is also matching the book contribution with a $5,000 gift.
"I grew up in this theater," he said, recounting a 1942 talent show in which he and friends competed on the stage of the historic landmark. "Through grade school and high school this theater was the place you went. We probably contributed to some of the damage it has had over the years. It's just a worthy effort."
The 17 short stories and playlets in the book are based on anecdotal stories Mr. Rath has heard over his 74 years and spins them into an at times irreverent and downright silly collection of tales. They are not related exclusively to Bellefontaine, however.

Copies of the book, bookmarks and hats are available at the Holland Theatre office, Peach Tree Books and Co. and All About Stitches and More. All proceeds benefit the Holland.
